Kerry
describes war injuries to Boston Herald
Boston, MA - John Kerry has finally described his war experience
in his own words to Boston Herald reporter Larry Fitzgerald early
Thursday. In an account that is almost tearful at times, Kerry
recounts how he was badly injured in Vietnam.
"It was evening in Danang, and I was finishing up some paperwork
I was submitting for my Bronze Star. It was eerily quiet in the
camp. I reached for the cup on my desk and then it all happened
so quickly I barely had time to react. I looked down at my hand
and saw one and a half inch paper cut along the outside of my
palm. There was so much blood I went through two cotton swabs
before I could get the bleeding to stop. I still carry some of
that wood pulp in my hand today"
According to Fitzgerald, Kerry had to pause at this point before
continuing and showed so much emotion that a tiny extra wrinkle
appeared on his face. An intern quickly loaded a hypo and gave
Kerry a Botox booster. The interview continued.
"It was then that I heard a cry nearby. I jogged over to
the tent next door to find that Lieutenant Argis had also been
struck down by the saboteur's cheap Vietnamese paper. I was able
to pull him to safety. He pulled through though - I just saw him
last week - but he walks with a limp and can never have children."
